All political parties in J&K favour holding simultaneous elections in the state: CEC Sunil Arora

Addressing media persons in Jammu on Tuesday, the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Sunil Arora has said the Election Commission is ready to hold simultaneous elections in Jammu and Kashmir as all the political parties in the States are in favour of holding Lok  Sabha and Assembly elections simultaneously.

Mr Arora was on the two-day visit of Jammu and Kashmir. On the culmination of his visit, the CEC said,
“all the political parties wanted the early formation of a democratically elected Government in the State.
No political outfit has objected the use of EVMs in the upcoming elections in the state.”

Mr Arora said the representatives from all Parties have emphasized on the need to provided adequate security to voters and candidates so as to instil confidence in them about the conducive environment for forthcoming elections.

He said the Commission will look into all the security arrangements while deciding on the timing and phasing of the elections.
