Congress on Wednesday has said that the BJP’s senior leader and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan might not get the party ticket like the former ministers and veteran leaders Babulal Gaur and Sartaj Singh.
These two leaders were asked to step down from the then Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet in June 2016 because they were above the age of 75 years.
In his tweet on Wednesday, State PCC spokesman Narendra Saluja said,
“If Tai (Sumitra Mahajan) contests the elections, then I will contest as an independent.. after this statement by BJP leader Sattan Guru, Tai reached his residence for reconciliation. The matter was settled. But suddenly Prabhat Jha reached Sattan Guru’s house and thereafter, again he is saying that he will contest as an independent.”
Sumitra Mahajan is the current sitting MP of Indore.
Meanwhile, Sattan Guru aka Satyanarayan Sattan who is a poet and a BJP leader from Indore has said that if Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan contests as BJP candidate from Indore in the upcoming elections, he will fight the election as an independent candidate against her.
While the State Congress is of the view that there was a bigger conspiracy behind Sattan Guru’s “contest the election as independent”
“The BJP does not want that Sumitra Mahajan should contest from Indore for her ninth term,” Narendra Saluja, a Congress leader from Indore said
It’s to be noted that Sumitra Mahajan (75) has won from Indore seat repeatedly for eight terms.
