Piyush Goyal, Union Railway Minister, announced that a grand meeting of NDA parties is going to held in Karachipuram district this week, where several leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will share the stage for the BJP-AIADMK-PMK alliance.
Goyal told reporters that, “On March 6, we will have a grand meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) alliance in Karachipuram district near Chennai. Prime Minister Modi will attend the meeting along with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister (O Pannerselvam), PMK leaders and several other leaders will share the stage. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi in central government and Palaniswami and Pannerselvam in Tamil Nadu, both the governments are working together for the development and better future of the people of Tamil Nadu.”
“Politics is all about possibilities. We are confident that the people of India and Tamil Nadu will give a strong and decisive mandate that will make a strong government in the country and ensure all-round development,” the minister added. He also claimed that the” strong” alliance will work to win all 40 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu which will help to give a good government to the country.
Asserting the need for a strong and stable government that will be led by a strong leader to face various challenges, particularly from terrorism, Goyal said that, “Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the one leader who can keep the country safe and protect our unity and integrity. It is shameful that the opposition is raising questions about our air strikes. It is an insult to our armed forces who are willing to lay down their lives to protect us,” he added, slamming the opposition’s allegations of showing “proof” of the air strikes carried out at a JeM terror camp in Pakistan.
The AIADMK formally joined NDA on February 19. The joint agreement shows that the BJP will contest five out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. AIADMK will be supported by BJP in the by-polls which will happen for 21 constituencies in Tamil Nadu.
BJP – AIADMK will be supported by the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), led by S Ramadoss, front in the state in the General elections.
Six Lok Sabha seats and one Rajya Sabha seat would be given to the party with the strongest vote base in Northern Tamil Nadu, especially among the OBC Vanniyar community.
Puthiya Tamilagam, a regional party in the state, joined the BJP-AIADMK alliance last week stating that, “We have joined the alliance to contest and win over 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.”
