Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, Rivaba Jadeja joined BJP on Saturday ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
She formally joined the saffron party in the presence of Gujarat Agriculture Minister R C Faldu and MP Poonam Madam at Jamnagar. The two leaders welcomed Rivaba in the party with a saffron scarf.
It’s to be noted that she had joined the right-wing Rajput outfit, Karni Sena, on October last year.
Karni Sena came to the limelight when it launched massive protests against the movie ‘Padmaavat’ in 2018. Rivaba was appointed the head of the women’s wing of Karni Sena in Gujarat.
After her induction into Karni Sena, Rivaba had said that her first goal would be to empower women to the level that they can take care of themselves, fend for themselves and defend themselves when men are not around.
Apparently, she was referring to the incident when she was purportedly slapped by a police constable after her car hit his bike in Jamnagar in May last year.
However, at the time, she had not revealed her plans to join politics.
“I can’t say anything with certainty at this stage. I would like to make a contribution in the capacity for which my community has selected me. You may call this a beginning. I have lots of good plans for our community and our country in the coming days. Presently, my focus is social service.” she had said at the press meet last year.
