Digvijaya Singh rubbishes reports indicating deferring of Lok Sabha polls in the wake of Pulwama attack

The Former Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader, Digvijaya Singh on Friday rubbished some reports suggesting deferring of the Lok Sabha election in the wake of Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were martyred.

“I don’t think India is heading towards Presidential Rule and general elections will be held as per schedule in April-May and model code of conduct is likely to be enforced next week,” the senior Congress leader said.

Accusing the ruling BJP of taking political advantage of the terror attack, he said,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not take the barbaric incident seriously and did not declare national mourning. Instead, he went ahead with his rallies, other programmes, boating, film shooting etc.

He further said that the Modi Govt should answer as to why proper security of CRPF cavalcade was not made and how such a huge amount of explosives was allowed to reach at the incident spot and why the permission to airlift the CRPF jawans on the fateful day was not given.
