Shivpal Yadav, the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (PSP) chief has announced he is ready to form an alliance with the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming general election.
The rebel Samajwadi Party (SP) leader, while speaking to media reporters, said, “Our party is ready to form an alliance with Congress for the Lok Sabha election. Top Congress leaders have contacted me. The seat-sharing formula has also been discussed but nothing has been finalized.”
On the SP-Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) alliance, Yadav said, “The alliance will fail because it’s a complete mismatch. Our party leadership held a meeting with around 50 smaller regional parties in the state for support and strengthening the PSP.”
Congress MLC Deepak Singh had earlier met him for seat sharing talks days before Priyanka Gandhi, the newly appointed general secretary and in charge of Uttar Pradesh (East) arrived in Lucknow on a four-day visit to hold a meeting with party leaders and workers belonging to different districts.
