Three major political parties in Odisha are in the process to finalise their candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
BJP said it has completed discussions with party leaders at the district and constituency levels.
The party has finalised a list of candidates for 100 Assembly and 18 Lok Sabha constituencies, a party source said.
While the state Congress stated that it has prepared a list of possible candidates for the 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly seats.
Moreover, the state congress election Committee will hold a meeting on March 6 and discuss the list prepared by the AICC Screening Committee and thereafter, the list will be sent to the high-command for approval.
Chairman of the Odisha Congress Screening Committee, VD Satheesan said in a statement,
“We have prepared a list of ticket aspirants which will be discussed at the PCC election committee meeting on March 6. Hopefully, a list of candidates will be announced before March 10.”
Meanwhile, State BJP vice president Samir Mohanty said the discussion has been held at the district level and constituency level for preparing the list of ticket aspirants. “Those, who are strengthening party organisation, will be given preference,” he said.
On the other hand, BJD seems to be in a dilemma in some constituencies where there is a long list of ticket aspirants.
